Piano Moving Process

As with any move we begin with our estimate process. Unlike the residential moves, we charge flat-rate fee for solely piano transportation. The cost of transportation depends on multiple factors such as type of the piano, it’s weight, transportation surface and presence of stairs. Additionally, the complexity of staircases plays an important part in the estimate process. In most situations, 2 Movers are sufficient to relocate upright pianos on the flat surface, and at least 3 Movers are required to move a grand piano.

After the estimate is accepted and move date is reserved our Van Nuys movers will arrive to your place and wrap the piano with blankets and shrink wrap to protect from scuffing. Grand piano’s legs are removed in order to pass them through the doors and piano is carefully lowered on the skid board. Next, piano is placed on a 4-wheel dolly and transported inside the truck. Further, piano needs to be securely strapped to the truck walls. Upon delivery to the new destination the process is being done in reverse.

* Piano moving rates include up 3 hours of moving, and a total of 50 miles traveling from our warehouse to pick-up, to drop-off and back to our warehouse.
